I am a full-time mom
to my fur baby, Milly, a Marketing professional, and a Health and Fitness Accountability Coach! I played sports my
whole entire life, played basketball in college, and after college I continued
to play in several recreational sports leagues.
After college, I also took up running and developed an unhealthy
relationship with it. I became obsessed
and then exercise basically took over my life.
I knew I needed to change something (or a lot of things) and really
needed to take a step back and look at what I was doing. **Enter in INSANITY and my boy, Shaun T.** SO…dun dun dun…I joined Beachbody in August
2012 within a few days of starting the Insanity program that I was actually
just borrowing. One day at the gym, the
infomercial was playing on one of the TVs and BAM…I thought well, if those
people can do it and they are seeing those types of results, then I can too! I heard about the workout here and there and
then knew someone who was giving it a try so I thought to myself, hmmm…let’s see
what this is all about. I didn’t borrow
the program very long, because I knew I needed my own copy!
When I began the
INSANITY program, I was absolutely determined to follow through with it and
complete it. I was motivated,
passionate, I wanted awesome results, and well, I am a fierce competitor so
there was NO WAY I was throwing in the towel once I committed. I was going to do whatever it took to
complete the workouts and give it my all each day. I knew I could do it and had to prove to
everyone and to myself that I could…even though only 1 other person knew I was
taking on the new challenge, haha!
Throughout this journey, I definitely struggled with getting up earlier
each morning and properly stretching to prevent from not being able to walk the
next day. I actually did the Fit Test on
a Saturday and then had a double header softball game the next day and let’s
just say, I will remember those games for probably the rest of my life! I was constantly doing stretches when we were
in the field and in between batters. It
was such a struggle to run to first base…I must have looked 100 years old! My body was truly put to the test and I, oddly
enough, loved it. I instantly became
hooked because the pain showed me that this was going to help me and be a
challenge, so I went full speed ahead.
Well, full speed ahead after a few days of hobbling around. So when I finished the first round of the
program, consisting of 60 days, I was hooked, but I still had more to do and
there were still results I needed to see.
Wow was I frustrated! Patience
has never been strength of mine; I like the immediate results with pretty much everything
in life. It is something I continue to
work on ever since I have started this new and amazing journey.
So what was I missing? I tried very hard to reflect on each day and
analyze what I did and how I did it. One
thing that finally came to mind was…well, what kind of support do I have? Yes, I completed the program and pushed hard
every single day, but I didn’t have the nutritional support and guidance of a
group to help me achieve my own fitness goals.
I didn’t have many people who understood and who I could talk to about
my struggles, questions, and just my overall thoughts and feelings about it. I didn’t have the support system that I
needed and desired. So, through my
Beachbody Coach, I learned about clean eating and I learned there were TONS of
people out there just like me. I
realized how important the nutritional part meant to my own success. I started Shakeology after the first month of
the program and that was a game changer for me, but I knew the other parts of
my daily eating habits weren’t that great.
I thought I already ate relatively healthy and clean, but there were
some key points I was missing. Food became
a source of fuel for me; it was no longer my reward. I soon realized that everything I was putting
into my body was working against everything I wanted to achieve. So I went to work and I continued Shakeology
and I finally opened the nutritional guide that Shaun T. so kindly provided
with his program and VOILA! a light bulb went off! Shortly thereafter, the weight really started
to come off and I was seeing more definition and felt leaner. I had taken my before pictures, that most
people dread, and sent them to my coach, and kept them hidden in a folder on my
laptop. I took additional pictures at 30
days and then at 60 days and by day 60 the changes were noticeable. So I decided to keep Insanity in my weekly
rotation of workouts! Pounds lost and tone
and definition gained….what’s a girl not to love?! One word -
Hooked!
