I am a BIG fan of hummus, but a lot of the brands in the grocery store are packed with artificial ingredients or added sugars. I got a Food Processor for Christmas and finally decided to break it open and put it to use! I will say...this is super easy and my Food Processor will definitely be getting put to good use!
- 2 (15 ounce) cans chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- *You can use white beans too for lower fat and calories
- Lemon juice to taste
- 1/2 cup Tahini (ground sesame seeds)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 clove of fresh garlic
- Water (optional) – just enough to get the right consistency
- Paprika/Ground Red Pepper/Old Bay to taste
- I put Old Bay on everything!!!
- *You can add roasted red peppers, sun dried tomatoes, or a variety of other things! Here is a good list of add-ins!
Directions:
- Place all ingredients in your food processor and blend until smooth.
- Enjoy with your favorite veggies or homemade pita chips.
Note: If your hummus is too thick, add either more lemon juice or a little water to loosen it up.
I also sprinkle paprika and Old Bay on top!
