Yesterday started WEEK 3 of my 21 Day Fix journey and it has been an interesting one!! I see
tremendous value in focusing on portion control and the workouts have actually
been kicking my @$$! This program is a
keeper and after the 21 days, I will continue to implement not only the
workouts, but definitely the portion control containers because I just love
food too much and need to stay grounded.
So, in a nutshell I always knew some of my weaknesses, but after taking
out the “eye balling” of the portions and really measuring I have learned quite
a few things!
- When I eyeball a portion, apparently I use 4 eyes instead of 2.
- I LOVE CARBS!
- I have a HUGE sweet tooth! My dad not only gave me his stellar dance moves, but I have inherited his sweet tooth as well. If there is bad food in the house I am tempted to the point that it makes me miserable. There is always some sort of junk food in the pantry closet pretty much on a weekly basis and it is so hard to ignore! The only thing that gets me through it is knowing that it isn’t mine so I literally can’t touch it…so I don’t! (But it is a horrible process leading up to that point)
- A 30 minute workout IS ENOUGH to see results!!!!
- The containers can hold a lot of food if you squish it in there!
- Some days I just don’t feel like drinking a lot of water and have to force myself.
- Yoga is just not for me!
- I work my abs hardcore with these workouts! I truly believe that if I try hard and stick to this plan for a second round I will achieve results I have been working for a long time to get!
I finished week 2 and it was
great because I finally feel more comfortable with the moves and I could really
push myself to the next level with it! I still struggle with the
containers because I find myself not allowing enough time to plan. Things have come up over the past 2 weeks
where I have not been able to devote time to set a true meal plan and focus
fully on what I am trying to achieve with this.
That is another thing I have learned.
You should not let anyone get in the way…obviously within reason though. I put others ahead of me so often that I need
my time too. I have a plan, I have
goals, and I have dreams and I can’t let anyone halt my progress and the
process. Obviously, like I said, within
reason. I don’t have kids or a husband
so I have a little more wiggle room! The
good thing is, is that the portion control containers are not a temporary thing
so yes, it will take me longer, but I know once I get it down and have it
memorized then it will be a no-thought process.
The 21 Day Fix Accountability Group that started in February has been rocking it and yesterday started week 3! I am so proud of my challengers so far. They realize it is a process and that this is the start that they needed to get on the right track. I can’t wait to continue on their journey with them through the bad times and good times because let’s face it, that’s life!
The major thing I have
learned, and well, I have always known, but is very evident now is that I truly
love eating food; even though I eat healthy food I just over eat food!
The 21 Day Fix really hones in on my clean eating lifestyle because even
though I consider myself a clean eater I have struggled to get results I really
want because of my portion sizes. If this sounds like you, you could be
eating too many of the right foods and that can stall your progress. I
will continue to recommend this program to all of my customers and there will
be plenty more groups to join because the results are just amazing!
**FIT TIP: So if you are
doing The Fix for the very first time here are a few things to keep in mind...
- Change is hard
- It’s NOT going to happen overnight.
- It takes work and sacrifice (But anything good in life, does)
The one thing you can't expect
from this plan is to continue to eat the way you were before. Let’s face it;
you are here in this place right now because what you were doing ISN'T working!
If you want something different then you
have to be willing to make a change, to embrace something new and to go with
it. I completely understand that it's hard, that it takes time, and that
it's exhausting to get rid of old habits and temptations. However, the smell
of victory is so sweet. I, too, have a
ways to go, but am more cautious of my portion sizes now more than ever!
Remember that if you are on this journey, you have the desire to change more than you want to stay the same. You want to wake up every day and feel happy, healthy, alive, and confident. If you are worried about having to give up all the things you love like pizza, cookies and cake, then yes it will be hard, but it's not impossible. Chances are that you are smart and realize that those things eaten everyday aren’t going to give you a healthy body or lifestyle anyways. Does it mean you should deprive yourself of all things greasy and sweet? Well, no. You will probably drive yourself nuts! It’s finding a healthy balance and not doing that every day or even every weekend. All you have to do is just work those things into your plan. They can still happen it's just on a smaller scale. The meal plan gives you a guide to follow and how you can fit everything into your eating regime.
I can’t stress this enough….Results don't happen
overnight, but they happen in the moments where it would be easy to quit. Results happen not on day 1 or day 5 but on
day 15 and 20 when you really have an effective and efficient system in place.
It happens when you are consistent every day, when you don't make
excuses, skip a workout or have an extra cheat meal. Results happen when
you have will power, you pass the cake, you drink the water, you say no to the
added sauces, you ask for your food prepared differently and you tell yourself
that no matter what you will finish this challenge. You will be a success
story and a little bump in the road is NOT going to stop you!
Weight loss is just as much a mental game as it is a physical one. For many of us it's a lifetime of bad decisions of coming from the old traditional ways of cooking; butter, heavy cream, ranch dressing, iceberg lettuce, and corn as a veggie! It doesn't have to be that way and you will be amazed at just how good your body is designed to feel! Embrace the change and be open to the possibility that healthy food is tasty food too! I never liked to cook because I thought it would just suck and be bland. Little did I know, that is NOT the case. I have come across and experimented with many different healthy dishes and they are full of flavor and delicious!
So no matter where you are in life, know that you can make a change if YOU want to! The key is that your will power has to be stronger than your WANT power!!
